Silver Spring, MD; August 6, 2008 – Acorn Media Group, a leading independent global media company, announces Peter Clinch as the new President of Acorn Direct effective July 28.
Acorn Direct is the very successful direct-to-consumer division offering DVDs and other high quality products through catalogs and online marketing vehicles. The Acorn catalog focuses on British television, specialty programming and other distinctive merchandise, while the Acacia catalog, launched in 2006, merchandises products for the body, mind and home including a line of original health & wellness programming on the Acacia DVD label.
Acorn Direct will mail 32 million catalogs in 2008, an increase of 40% from 2007. Acorn Media Group projects $100 million in global sales from its four divisions in 2008, with 50% from Acorn Direct.
Peter Clinch has an extensive career in the catalog industry, most recently as Senior Vice President of Direct Marketing and Inventory Management at J. Jill in Boston, where he grew their direct business and oversaw the inventory management of all J. Jill sales channels including stores, internet and catalog. Prior to joining J. Jill in 2001, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Inventory Management for Pottery Barn Brands at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and held various management positions at Chadwick’s of Boston, LTD. He received his M.S.B.A. in Accounting and B.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Based in suburban Washington, D.C. and founded by Chairman Peter Edwards, Acorn Media Group has grown from a one-man basement documentary production and distribution operation in the mid-1980s into a boutique DVD and consumer products marketing company operating on three continents. In addition to Acorn Direct, the Acorn Media Group consists of three other divisions, Acorn Media U.S., a leading distributor of British television programming on DVD to consumers in North America, and Acorn Media U.K. and Acorn Media Australia, which distribute a comparable line of DVD titles to consumers in the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. Acorn Media U.S. will release a record 76 titles in 2008.
